School Councils

We have 3 councils in school currently as well as a group of Sports Leaders.

The council groups for 2023/2024 are as follows:

Pupil Parliament:

The Pupil Parliament is a group of children nominated by their classmates at the start of each academic year.

We have 2 representatives from Years 1 to 6 with 2 additional Year 6 pupils who learn to Chair and clerk the meetings as the year progresses.

Pupil Parliament meets termly with Mrs Gaulton to discuss general school life and make decisions about events, how school funds are spent, resources and activities that could enhance our school offer as well as environmental and societal issues that are important to the children.

Each meeting has an agenda & action points to work on before the next meeting.

The representatives in attendance then feedback to their classes following the meeting.

Look out for the display board in the Hall which will be dedicated to our Pupil Parliament.

Curriculum Council:

The Curriculum Council is a group of 8 children who meet termly with Mrs Novacki (Curriculum Lead) and Mrs Gaulton to discuss how we can enhance and improve our curriculum offer.

The children are representatives from KS2 , with 2 children from Years 3 - 6 attending meetings.

Each meeting has an agenda & action points to work on before the next meeting.

The representatives in attendance then feedback to their classes following the meeting.

Look out for the display board by our corridor curriculum map, which will be dedicated to our Curriculum Council.

Inclusion Council:

The Inclusion Council is a group of 8 children who meet termly with Mrs Turnbull (SENDCo) and Mrs Gaulton to work on ensuring all children and families in our school community feel incuded, safe and celebrated.

There are 2 representatives from each class in KS2 (Years 3-6) on the Inclusion Council.

At Prospect Vale we work hard to celebrate that we are all unique and that is what makes us so special.

The Inclusion Council will work together to think of creative ways to learn, ensuring we celebrate everyone by learning about those with protected characteristics (as cited in the Equality Act), both within our community and in a wider sense.

At Prospect Vale we are kind and treat everyone with respect. The Inclusion Council will work hard to ensure this message is always present in our learning.

Each meeting has an agenda & action points to work on before the next meeting.

The representatives in attendance then feedback to their classes following the meeting.

Look out for the display board outside the Thrive Hive, which will be dedicated to the Inclusion Council.

Sports Leaders:

The Sports Leaders are a group of Upper KS2 children who are responsible for encouraging active learning throughout school. They will also be responsible for supporting Mrs Hall (PE Lead) in organising, setting up and supervising school sporting events throughout the academic year.

The children lead lunchtime activities for children on the playground too - encouraging fair play, team spirit, resilience and determination.

The children had to apply for the 'job' of Sports Leader, explaining why they would be a good candidate for our sports leader team and a good role model to others. They also had to attend official training before their role started in school.

Take a look at the main corridor Sports displays to see who they are!
